Title: Problem when starting up Radiant
Post by: #FNRP#Insane on January 17, 2018, 01:20:49 PM
So I was in radiant adding Xmodels to a map I'm working on (or would be) and I loaded up an xmodel (it was some sort of desk) and it worked fine. Then I tried loading up another xmodel and then my radiant crashed gave me this error = https://imgur.com/UsuUPTv  I had fixed this by doing a clean install and installing the 1.1 patch
However, on trying to start up after this I had gotten this error and I can't get around it = https://imgur.com/hxZziFS
Any help would be appreciated thanks

Have you tried searching for the material in: C:\Games\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 4\raw\materials? (Or wherever your CoD4 is installed). Do you see the $default file there?

Also try creating a shortcut to Radiant in your CoD4 folder where the MP and SP executables are located (root folder).

Thanks for the reply, I have looked in my raw folder for materials and found $default and I made the shortcut too however same error and no luck.
I've been told It's better to have 2 copies of cod4 one for playing and one for modding/mapping and that's how I have it and the one for mapping I use is on a different drive then my playing cod 4 could that be a problem?

If you have 2 copies then there is the case of something messing up. I never used 2 copies and I was able to get on with mapping fine. I'd rather not fill up 10GB+ for a duplicate copy of CoD4 / Mod Tools.

Try install Mod Tools on your main copy of CoD4 but be careful when copying files. You don't want to corrupt it.

Backup your folder first. I installed it all today fully and have no issues so far.
